After delaying their takeover of Verizon's DSL and landline networks in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine
several times, Fairpoint Communications insists they really are ready for January's cut over date. A filing with the Public Utility Commissions (PUC) in New Hampshire and Maine and the Department of Public Service (PSB) in Vermont
indicates that everything is on schedule. Fairpoint is paying Verizon $15 million per month for help until the switch. Meanwhile, customers in our
Fairpoint forum note the carrier is promoting their re-branded version of FiOS, which they've dubbed "FAST." As an aside, it looks like Fairpoint's CEO will be
exiting stage left shortly after the deal is completed.
