by sashwa Friday 10-Jun-2005
SACRAMENTO A federal judge has denied bail to a Lodi man suspected of training at an al-Qaida terrorist camp in Pakistan and planning attacks in the U.S.

22-year-old Hamid Hayat is charged along with his father of lying to federal investigators about attending a terrorist camp in 2003 and 2004. One federal document said hospitals and supermarkets were among his possible targets.

Judge Peter Nowinski said the charges were very serious and there could be a motive to flee. On Tuesday, Nowinski denied bail to Hayat's father.
