I just received an email from my friend who is a senior systems Engineer at Verizon and he said the Mercury Media (aka Fios 2) is being deployed mid August in the Northern Virginia Region.

Besides the overall crappiness of the current user interface, the page up and down was my biggest complaint.

As for FL, I hope they consider rolling out in the South (broward, dade)

| Got Tired of Waiting I gave up on waiting for a prettier guide. There are no real enhancements other than search. The guide data is horrible with show descriptions generic rather than of the specific episode.
I'm keeping my FIOS Tv for it's picture quality, but I'm giving my money to Tivo to enhance my FIOS TV experience.
Verizon would be better served saving money and helping Tivo develop a Tivo that can support their features so they can reap the benefits of subscription fees rather than spending millions on developers who are trying to learn how to do this stuff for the first time.
Even Direct Tv seems to want to get away from designing their interfaces for DVR's. -- Mac Chatter »www.macchatter.net

| Got FIOS today, Central MA with the new Guide PROBLEM! First off FIOS is GREAT, better than expected. The new guide is great...easy to use, very good looking. BUT...If you have an HD TV, most people use the stretch feature that will change a NON HD show to fill the screen. An HD show fits to "Normal" size. Anyway...the channel guide (the info when you change channels) is VERY small. It is hard to read. If you use the stretch, the guide stays in the middle of the picture and does not expand. I called verizon, they are working to see if they can fix the problem. BUT...it is a great service and more than worth what I am paying...Goodbye Charter!! | |
