Well, even though he professed to be a "good" catholic, he stated that he could not do anything to ban abortions in NY because the voters supported allowing abortions in this state, yet he REFUSED to sign a death penalty bill in NY, even though the vast majority of the voters wanted it, due to religious reasons... -- RIAA/MPAA... | What is Child Porn »perezhilton.com/2008-07-12-miley···st-naked
ok according to most laws this would be considered child pron
same with the pictures of her in that mag.
any poses of lude sexual positions by underage girls is considered CP.
hell one guy in florida got 3 years for having a web site of girls in bathing suits and underwear...not nude...but lude poses
so where does the line end? jcpenny mags? -- www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob.

| Re: What is Child Porn 1. Miley Cyrus photos aren't child porn, might be offensive to some, but not child porn.
2. A web site of girls (I'm assuming 12 or younger) in bathing suits and underwear isn't child porn, however it's not a website I would look at 24/7, not my cup of pee.
3. Jcpenny mags, I'm assuming the ads with little girls in their bathing suits or panties, not child porn, just advertisment, not my cup of pee either, in fact the only thing I notice is the Best Buy or Circuit City ads.

| You might want to cite sources for those allegations.
Child porn involves children under the age of 18 engaging in sexual acts or posing nude in sexually provocative poses/positions.
The picture of child nude is NOT child pornography.
The picture of child in a bathing suit or lingerie is NOT child pornography. they must be engaged in a sexual act or suggestive of a sex act.
Sure its an ugly fine line and i find it repugnant that many get close but never cross and can get away with it but its the law and for what its worth it does work.
There are MANY legal sites that have children under the age of 18 in lingerie and swim suits that are highly suggestive BUT not nude and NOT posing in sexual positions.
I don't see these AG's going after them...why? cause they are perfectly legal. offensive to many, but perfectly legal.

| good cover for the ISPs for those not paying attention, the ISPs say
"the AG made us do it!"
which deflects customers cries of "why did you cut newsgroups, you money grubbing, cheap ISP?"
the AG gets to posture and preen in his fight against child porn (TM) and the ISPs get hossanahs and attaboys for something they were going to do (or have done) anyway, that probably was going to piss off customers.

| The sad thing is... Thousands of voters will actually believe that Cuomo did something to eliminate kiddy porn from the internet.
I use newsgroups for access to Microsoft and Adobe users groups. Instead of getting it from Verizon I now have to subscribe to a private provider because VZ removed all groups except some stupid junk ones. It cost me $10 for 30gigs, so it's no big deal.
I am sure that anyone seriously into illegal kiddy porn did not use Verizon or ATT newsgroups anyway. They subscribed to a third party because it is pretty well anonymous.

msnews.microsoft.com adobeforums.com (also forums.macromedia.com)
because VZ removed all groups except some stupid junk ones. While I understand and share your resentment, this was a silly thing to say. The Big 8 groups are the core of Usenet. -- 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0

| Much a do about nothing Both Karl and Cuomo forgot the most effective tool, the FBI and Scotland Yard's aggressive prosecution via sting operations. Mot of the notorious alt. group have been abandoned and sites been shut down for years. This is nothing more than political pandering.
It seem New York AG office have a long history of abuse of power just for the sake of advancing one political career. Does Eliot Spitzer ring a bell?

| Re: Much a do about nothing Wrong person I do not own a trailer The media story had to do with how the TV news Media uses pictures instead of facts. Todays news is no longer facts but using pictures to validate opinion. For example, on a news story drinking they show a guy in the station studio pouring drinks. The child porn story the camera was scrolling though sites to say how bad Child porn on the internet was. The problem is the sites are ether just spam or click farms. I dare say if a person tries to put up a child porn site, the person going to be busted, just look at all the bust recently of online child porn rings. It says to me the current law enforcement techniques are enough. | |

| ISPs Shadowing Cause of Saving More, Giving Less To censor groups that have nothing to do with the case is a sign that ISPs are taking advantage of this situation in order to reduce costs involved with Usenet. Funny how no statement from any of these ISPs state any type of fee reduction as services that were normally included are no longer offered. Ive migrated to Newsdemon for my Usenet access as they are offering 15% off every plan FOR LIFE for any subscribers of ATT and AOL See details here »www.newsdemon.com/blog/2008/07/1···and-att/ | |
