Any chance this new version may have picture quality refresh for those of us on dial-up using an accelator for browsing purposes? It's pain to have to switch back and forth between FF and IE. Possibly a future version?

| Interesting..... "reworking of the browser update feature."
So does that mean it will actually WORK???? I've never gotten FF to update through the update feature, usually it just hangs and goes nowhere.
Am I the only one that has a problem with FF STARTING sometimes? Double click FF to start, it opens, and does nothing. the ! symbol is right next to HELP, instead of in the right corner. Don't know what started this happening, and I have no extensions or heavy themes running. I use Pinball 0.9.9.3, but it does the same at home, and there I only have the default theme running..... Let's just hope this is all fixed in 1.5.

| Funny man! IE crashed on my newly installed and updated XP system on regular basis! FF? Not once!
Odd how, literally, opening IE and AdAware finds something. Over a year of FF, and not a blip.
However, I do get the odd pop-up after being told FF blocked it. Of course for IE, thats the norm.

| Problems? I have had none of these update problems or "screw up your system" issues with FF on 1.4. (well, it never screwed up my system, but the update didn't really work well until after 1.2)
The update issues might be resolved by completely uninstalling your old versions of FF, and reinstalling the current one. I'd wouldn't be surprised if the issue was more on how Windows handles the old registry entires than with FF itself. -- Computer keyboards are very sensitive. You do not need to apply a lot of pressure. Banging the keys only serves to wear out your keyboard and you.

| Re: Problems? I DID have problems intially with FF updates. They would just hang. However, I learned that if you have a check mark in "Allow Web Sites To Install Software", everything went fine.
So, keep it off the majority of the time. See an update, turn it on, finish, turn it off. The same problem ocurred trying to install Extensions.
FireFox is defnitely a beautiful thing. Unlike IE, it actually works, and actually does what you tell it to, or not to.

1 edit | Why is everyone so misinformed? For those complaining about the update feature. All it has done so far is open a url and tell you to download the setup file. The Deer Park Alpha feature is the auto updating feature that won't require much user interaction except for most likely clicking next once or twice. But it will alleviate the need to manually download updates.
For those complaining of Firefox messing up their system, apparently they don't know what a "system" is. It's a computer not a browser. Firefox isn't integrated into windows like IE therefore it can't do what is mentioned here. Good day.
