Fort Worth Railroad To Hire 2,300 New Employees

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Freight railroad Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. said Tuesday that profit rose nearly 25 percent in the April-June period on record shipments and higher prices, and that it would hire a total of 2,300 new employees this year to handle anticipated growth.

The company said it earned $249 million in the quarter, or 67 cents per share, compared with $200 million, or 54 cents per share, a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had forecast 64 cents per share.

That means my job is still pretty secure then.

I drive an 18 wheeler and generally haul containers from BNSF throughout the metroplex. So guess this means I still have a job also, yay.
It is good news though. There was some times earlier this year I would haul 2-3 containers a day max, now I'm pulling around 5-7 which makes the pay checks much much nicer.
