said by Straphanger:Right -- around here it's either "linksys" or "belkin54g"... Great ISP's...
There's plenty of people who have the standard SSID of "linksys" and never bother to put on security. Free access for all.

Re: Liksys? Don't forget, many times those same ISPs have a public file server on a machine with a host name of Localhost. Usually it's a huge collection of porn, movies, and mp3s. One time I found this picture of some guys wife that could have been a twin sister to my wife...

Re: its true Actually, I bought a Linky a short while ago and they made it pretty hard to not set up security. I had my own setup in mind and didn't want to use their "wizard".

FREE i have to get on the internet some how. LOL, keep leaving them unlocked people.
The article left out one thing Of course, T-Mobile is going to require the user's credit card, and if not cancelled after the 90 day trial period.
I threw out the map a long time ago. Now I follow my own direction!
Re: The article left out one thing and the fact that it's T-Mobile.
Re: Linksys is the best WISP Or "default"
Re: Linksys is the best WISP Anyone remember "tsunami"?
Re: Linksys is the best WISP Cisco
From my room I can pick up both Linksys and Default with no security.
Re: Linksys is the best WISP Linksys is working for me right now!

Who needs T-mobile hotsspot Who needs T-mobile hotspot, just stop by any big apartment building and chances are it will have multiple open wifi and wep(that can easily be cracked)
Re: Who needs T-mobile hotsspot tmobile hotspot is a ridiulous waste of money!
Couldn't people trick T-mobile to think they had VISTA? Couldn't people trick T-Mobile to think they had Vista? On firefox they have the User Agent plug-in that allows you to change what sites think your OS and browser might be. So maybe people will trick tmobile that they have IE 7 with Vista... Might just be free for anyone for 90 days!

Re: 90 Whole days! Yeah, no kidding.
Quite a few bars and resturants in my area now have free WiFi, too....
Lack of coverage... Of course you could just stick with XP and log into the world's largest ISP (linksys) instead for free, but what do we know.
It's funny that this keeps getting put in every news posting about some new commercial wireless provider. However, I've been in several airports, quite a few bookstores and even the occasional Starbucks. None of these locations had a "linksys" or other open AP visible. You're virtually certain not to find one smack in the middle of a large airport (DFW, anyone?) that's nowhere near any residences.
