French telco will not help ntl
by HG Fegen$ Wednesday 30-Jan-2002
France Telecom - the owner of an 18 per cent stake in NTL - said it wouldn't help out the debt-laden cable company anytime soon.

The French telecoms giant said yesterday it would not feel a "cash impact" as a result of any financial restructuring at NTL. It did admit, however, that it would have to take an unspecified accounting charge to reflect the reduced value of its stake in NTL, according to the Daily Telegraph. NTL has appointed Credit Suisse First Boston, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley to advise it on the best strategy for restructuring its $17bn debt.

NTL's problems

HELLO:)
It looks very much like NTL will have a long and hard struggle ahead. I believe that their problems are but part of a much wider picture that requires a measure of restoraton and some touching up from both the UK authorities and the telco industry. The paying customer will otherwise face diminished service and higher fees if something is not done. The UK may have seen some improvements insomuch as there are many more people getting access to the net but as a country we are far behind in terms of technological implementation and services development in this area.:)
