Isn't it amazing how money corrupts absolutely.

Everything becomes about money, not values, not morals, not society's best interests, not advancement of mankind. Just money, money, money, all the money for me. Greed.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

It's why the fall will be total and complete.

Re: Isn't it amazing how money corrupts absolutely.

Exactly why this country will crash and burn. We bailed out the banks and they are already playing the same old games. The MPAA and RIAA whittle away our rights via purchased laws in the so called name of fighting piracy. The military industrial complex soaks up science and education dollars for the "War on Terror".

And at the bottom of this is not the betterment of Us the people, the voters or even more broadly, the people of Earth. nope its Money. I figure a senator would throw a voter under a bus(literally not figuratively) if it would make them an extra ten grand.

dont forget "war on drugs" (mostly marijuana), war on gay marriage, abortion/stem cell research, editing pledge of allegiance (there was no reference to God in the beginning since this country was founded on principle of freedom to practice any religion or no religion).

We went so much kicking and screaming waging war by breaking into Middle East, etc after 9/11, yet we forgot how we ended world war II by bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki where a lot more people died. This was more about "showing power" than trying to end WW2.

What do you do with a guy who abuses his power? you hate him. You wanna at the end kill him and eat him just to try to posses his power.

broswer competition

Yeah I tensed when I saw the Opera article headline. With broswer-based computing overtaking the desktop environment I want strong alternatives independent of social media and monster info-vac business models. I fear re-newed browser wars ending with MS and Goog owning the landscape. Mozilla has a massive installed base but will the revenue model remain viable?

Facebook is a fast moving cancer, IMO. No account here.

Google sharing its fiber network

According to the article "In many truly open networks, the mandate is that two or three fibers run to each premise – then access providers put equipment in at the patching point and tie in to their customers on dark fiber." Google must of experienced the reality of just how expensive an open access 1 Gbps network would be. It's expensive enough to provide each premise with one fiber and 10G GPON1 could provide asymmetrical 1 Gbps service to a number of customers.

Nah, it's called selling out your ideals in the name of making more money.

Making more money was probably always one of Google's ideals.

One of them... but like everything else, it's now becoming the only one that matters. Corporations are amoral. You cannot have unregulated capitalism, it always begets evil.

Lacking a human conscience is one of reasons I think considering a corporation a "person" is a tyrannical attack on individual freedom. Lack of human mortality is another reason. According to the Declaration of Independence the creator granted individual human beings (not corporations) certain inalienable rights. Only a tyrannical government can recognize individuals and corporations as having the same legal status.

Exactly. A Corporation should NOT have the same rights as a citizen. It's not the same. A corporation can't be held accountable in the same manner a person can. They shouldn't be afforded the same legal level as a citizen.

Funny. Did you know that anyone can register a new corporation in any state regardless of founder's place of residence. It does not require neither permanent residence nor us citizenship. The only requirement is you have US address which is not a problem if you hire a registered agent. And its very easy to do if your business is virtual. Most people outside the US incorporate in Delaware.

However in order to work for a new employer, if your not a citizen you need a visa sponsorship and most employers won't do it because its too expensive, too complicated, too long process. Many employers won't even bother looking at your resume if you're from States but reside in different state than employer since they give priority to locals or hire locals only.
