| Copyright and lending The labels can smooch my Lilly white ass. I'll do whatever I want with my physical property. And just because they're that retarded, I think my next album purchase will be used since I'm sure they'll think the first sale doctrine an abomination too.

Problem for them is the Library can declare their lending as educational as they are an educational institution.(and well good luck suing a town, they could just ignore it as its impossible to garnish a town.) -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports

| Re: Copyright and lending I am sure there will be industry defenders who claim that, since it is the music company's property, the content is licensed however they choose to license it. If they want to restrict lending and you don't like it, just don't buy the music.
I agree with you that it is probably an attempt to get the music out of libraries since there is absolutely no way they could enforce a ban on personal lending... hell, they can't even make a dent in fair-use personal distribution via torrents

| Re: Copyright and lending Being that it is an British company under UK and European copyright statutes, it MAY be a legit warning there. The "lending" would need to be removed before sale under international and US copyright law as lending the original in it's entirety would be legal, provided you do not maintain or use separate physical or electronic copies while the lent item is in another's possession. | |

And the theft rate is only up because people are dumb and walk around showing expensive electronics on places like the subway. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports
