Verizon is just bent they let the iPhone slip through their fingers and they're having to settle on failures like the Voyager.
And it doesn't take a Magic 8-Ball to tell ya that a $200 3G iPhone with push Exchange support, remote wipe, GPS, better battery life and other features (that should have been in the first iPhone) is going to be a huge success, especially in a corporate environment where RIM still dominates.

But it's still an APPLE product. Enought to stay away.
"There goes the conspiracy again. You're declaring them a winner before they've earned it on the field." As much as I hate VZW, he has a point. The wHYphone was on the top before it even hit the market. Who cared if it was like yesterdays technology with a cool interface. It was slow, proprietary and ran on a shitting network. PERIOD. But it still was all the hype. AT&T and Apple. 2 that deserve one another.

US regulators should demand the same proof from US providers before they expand their full frontal assault on video competitors like Apple, Microsoft, DirecTV and Netflix.

Then Verizon has the guts to say "Full HTML browser" yeah it's about time they caught up with the 90's broswers. Perhaps eventually they'll figure out that this Web 2.0 thing exists.
The Blackberry Thunder is not going to save them either. The iPhone is already suited to handle web apps tailored for a true mobile browser and will make many inroads. If Blackberry's hammered stocks are any indication, investors agree.
Verizon claims the best network, but when you compare the numbers from outsider raters like JD Power, it's statistically insignificant how many extra calls AT&T dropped. Oh and AT&T beats Verizon in some areas too.
Verizon's decisions about business are thought out in a egotistic way. Ignore Android because they made us pay 40 billion for bandwidth, link up with linux on handhelds which is even more behind that Android. Their open access is a complete sham as well. They've yet to announce a phone and they'll probably adopt rogers wireless rates just so people wont want it, and then declare it a failure.
I'm sure they'll somehow work with AT&T to make their 4G LTE networks incompatible with each other. -- Mac Chatter »www.macchatter.net
| | | | Re: Ivan is an idiot Business people DON'T use an iPhone. The trick to a nice cellphone with any carrier is to get one real cheap then buy an unlocked one.
I do know friends who are using the iPhone on TMobile (they don't use the iTunes update crap).
HOW ABOUT BRINING BACK PHONES WITH NO CAMERAS, NO MP3 PLAYER, ETC. SO I CAN MAKE A PHONE CALL FROM EVERYWHERE. -- Saving the world keeps me busy. However, I find Earth very primitive from my home planet of Krypton. -Supergirl

And you can still get featureless phones...they're rare but they're still around. AT&T has the A117 for example...it's small, free and doesn't have all the extra crap.
| | | | | | Re: Ivan is an idiot Windows Mobile is far from dead my friend. Not to mention it had support out of the box for 3rd party apps making it far more customizable than the iPhone including Rim and Exchange support not to mention Lotus with goodlink | |

Not to mention it had support out of the box for 3rd party apps making it far more customizable than the iPhone including Rim and Exchange support not to mention Lotus with goodlink It's only been a year and in the US the single iPhone outsells all WM handsets combined and that is with the iPhone being overpriced, no push, no exchange, no GPS, no 3G, no 3rd party apps...all of which get fixed in 2 weeks. If the old iPhone kicked WM's ass, the new iPhone will bury them. And with OS 2.0 coming, even existing handsets will get all those benefits with the exception of 3G and GPS. We also see iPhone's global expansion coming in 2 weeks...an explosion in the installed base drawing tons of 3rd party developers to the iPhone.
Apple, in just 1 year put the fork in WM pretty deep. MS is done and will go the way of Motorola. The next course to be cooked is RIM.
| | | | | | | | Re: Ivan is an idiot You are going by US stats i assume. Look @ the stats in Europe as the iPhone is not moving at all like it was expected too and wm crushes it. I do believe more people in Europe will adopt the iPhone now that it finally is 3G. However the rest of the world has a much better phone selection than us. It takes forever as the FCC loves to twiddle their thumbs when evaluating anything. | |

It's not even available in all of Europe and even the old model with no features, high price, no 3G outsells hugely popular handsets like the N95.
As the overpriced and hobbled iPhone beat the combined sales of all Microsoft handsets in the US just months after release, the iPhone 3G will do the same in the rest of the world (now that it will finally get sold worldwide).
And again...we're talking not of iPhone beating a few popular models. We're discussing whether or 1 or 2 iPhone models beat the ENTIRE combined sales of what, 60, 70 WM handsets available? That's an insane accomplishment that even the biggest proponents of iPhone couldn't have imagined possible so quickly.
Apple isn't going to give WM a 2nd look. With 3G, Exchange. 3rd party apps and push their sights are now set on RIM and RIM should be quaking in their boots. Within 1 year, just 2 models of iPhone have turned the smartphone industry on its head and has sent the biggest players scrambling for cover.

If you want BlackBerry, you have a lot of choices, same with a Nokia Symbian smartphone or a Windows Mobile device. This distorts sales statistics- Symbian may outsell OS X smartphones, but because there's only one iPhone it messes things up when you look at particular models. But to me, this is really a disadvantage of the iPhone... Though, considering the different flavors of iPod available, I think at some point there may be a few choices of iPhone at some point.

| | | | Yea, Supergirl. Somebody got it very right. I haven't used the camera in 8 months, I have probably used it 4 times in the 2 1/2 years I have had the camera and most of that was experimenting with the camera. | |

PS: Need to "roam" on occasion? They have an agreement with Verizon, you'll pay by-the-minute for roaming, but you'll stull save money!
