RE: FCC Likely to Recommend Unlicensed Spectrum Use

»hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/a···45A2.pdf
This report tentatively concludes that for the static case that is examined AWS-3 devices could operate at a power level of up to 23 dBm/MHz equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) and with out-of-band emissions (OOBE) attenuated by 60 + 10*log(P) dB without a significant risk of harmful interference. However, this report also notes that the Commission has in the past adopted less stringent OOBE standards under flexible service rules whereby the licensees and industry work together cooperatively to manage potential interference.
The report defines what the engineers felt were safe power levels without causing interference. But then says the FCC commissioners in the past have weakened the stds they came up with to make industry happy.

Just proves that our Federal Government is for sale to corporations like Microsoft and Google.

RE: Hackable Broadband Left Unpatched

Stale news. This Forbes report is from July 17, 2008 and the holes have been plugged by the ISPs mentioned in this report.

Microsoft could pick Blackberry

Much needed. Much to the disappointment of the haters who said the iPhone was doomed to failure, the iPhone in the US outsells all Windows Mobile handsets combined and according to NPD now outsells RIM as well. A combined RIM and WM would put them back on top. According to NPD the iPhone is the #2 handset only behind the easily available RAZR. »www.electronista.com/articles/08···.iphone/

Re: Microsoft could pick Blackberry

RIM is #3 with the Curve and #5 with the Pearl (and toss in some more for the 8800 series, though that isn't a big seller), those could still add up to a greater number than the iPhone, but I can't find the survey with numbers anywhere.

Re: Microsoft could pick Blackberry

No, you're right. I misread their report. In terms of marketshare I think RIM is still in the high 30's somewhere while Apple dropped from 21 to 19.
