Yes, about a week ago, and I think this image speaks for itself This is with 2 x 8800GTX in SLI mode. Also, that image was with 2gb I had in there temporarily as I was waiting on 4gb to arrive. DDR2 800. I haven't haven't run 3DMark06 since I have put the 4gb in. My 4800+ with the same memory was giving me about 9500+ scores

Re: Q6600

AAAGGHH!!! I've got a 2.4 GHz 4800+ dual core. Was planning to go Intel for my next CPU. Didn't think I was that out of date.

To add insult to injury, my GeForce 7900 GTX 512 MB is now at the bottom of the low-end gamers cards. 2 years ago, this system rocked. Now, it is a rock.

E8400 is where its at. Unless you can grab one of those $199 Q6600 from MicroCenter, or you are a video editor, dual-core Wolfdale at 4Ghz will beat quad-core Kentsfield at 3.6Ghz in any game on the market. Penryn core, clock-for-clock, is 10 percent faster than Conroe core. Plus its amazing how little power it consumes for such a fast chip.

Only problem is these damn Digital Thermal Sensors are a bit faulty. Still, I'm running 3.914 Ghz a 1.3125 VCore versus 1.225 stock. 37 away from Core throttle temp.

US oversight of ICANN drawing to an end in 2009

»news.yahoo.com/s/infoworld/20080···ld/95849
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is starting to look at how the organization might function after its current memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Department of Commerce expires in September 2009.

ICANN, the nonprofit group that manages the Internet domain name system, has suggested it should become independent of Commerce Department oversight when the current Joint Project Agreement (JPA) with the agency expires.

ICANN's goal after the Commerce Department agreement ends, he said, is to expand a global governance model that allows input from a broad range of Internet communities.

But the expiration of the U.S. agreement would still leave ICANN with accountability, Levins said. ICANN still has a contract with the United States to operate the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), and its board members are elected by several groups.
Is UN control in ICANN's future?

Fixed that one for ya :P

I'm sure the majority of people in WHO think they're helping people out, but that doesn't stop the fact of what's put in vaccinations these days.

Besides, just because one part of the UN is good (which even then, I hardly think WHO is good), doesn't mean all of it is.

2 - 4 inches of rain coming...why not snow :(

Beginning of March here in NY, which usually leaves the door open for a significant snowfall.

But nope. 42 degrees (f) and 2-4 inches of rain expected in the next 24 hrs. Now, if had been a little colder and that had been snow...whoa!

People that keep calling...

So at work, you need me. Dial x821 from in-house, and you'll get me. But don't keep calling me...I see your name coming up on the CID. If I'm there and I don't answer, it's because I'm either already on the phone, about to be on the phone, or dealing with something that needs my immediate attention.

Leave a voicemail, I'll get back to you. Do not keep calling me every 90 seconds. That will make it extremely unlikely that I will take your call. In fact, that usually awakens Mr. Click. And Mr. Click has less patience than I do.

CBS and AOL combine online radio networks

»news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080307/med···s_aol_dc
The No. 2 U.S. radio broadcaster CBS Radio said on Friday it will combine its more than 150 online radio stations with AOL's more than 200 online stations.

CBS Radio, a division of CBS Corp, will take over advertising sales, the companies said in a joint statement.

CBS Radio plans to launch this spring a new online radio player that incorporates the two companies' services and will also support Apple Inc's Mac computers.
And AOL lives on.

FCC spectrum auction only has couple days til finish

As bidding on the 700MHz spectrum auction starts to wind down, a group of business school students predicts it will be long time before consumers see any of the promised new services resulting from the auction.

Now, the auction, which has already raised a whopping $19.59 billion since it began in January, will likely end in the next few days, according to the Reuters news service. Under the FCC's rules, the auction will continue until the bidding stops.

So what's likely to change for consumers after the auction concludes? According to a competitive intelligence war game initiated by market research firm Fuld & Company, not much, at least for the next few years. Carriers aren't expected to even have the new infrastructure built within the next two to three years.

Here's a look at some of the other predictions. The Google team, made up of students from University of Chicago, predicted that the search engine giant will partner with a leading wireless service provider, possibly AT&T. And the group believes that it will share 20 percent of its advertising revenue with whoever owns the licenses. Separate from the auction, the group also predicts that Google's new Android handset software will run into resistance among chipmakers and handset manufacturers, who have different business interests than Google.

The Northwestern group, which took on the identity of Intel, believes the chipmaker will attack the wireless broadband market through its WiMax initiative. The company will likely work with PC makers to embed WiMax chips and help them shrink their devices to compete directly with smartphones, the students said.

The teams also said that adult content was likely to be the killer application that will drive wireless broadband adoption.

FCC is expected to reveal the names of spectrum license winners within days of the auction's conclusion.
Short version - don't hold your breath for big changes anytime soon. Maybe in 3 or 4 years.

The 3 stooges from South America

»tkjunkmail.blogspot.com/2008/03/···ist.html
The leftist leaders of Venezuela, Ecuador, and Nicaragua support drug lords, assassins, & terrorist guerrilla groups in South America. They are now trying to topple Columbia by flooding Columbia's borders with armed troops defending Columbia's leftist terrorist group FARC. The scum leftist leaders scream Columbia doesn't respect their countries sovereignty. But Columbia doesn't have much choice while the 3 stooges continue to aid and abet and protect the terrorist groups inside their borders.
The US is going to get drug in to this sooner or later, unfortunately.

I think we're a little busy at the moment with Iraq and Afghanistan.

I certainly hope this isn't wishful thinking on your (or anyone's) part.

Whether or not you're for or against our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, anyone capable of reading a balance sheet can tell you that the US can ill-afford a third war. Particularly when the first two ones are far from conclusively ended and are serving quite well as a Money and People Pit.

Besides which, it's probably not a good idea to get on the bad side of either the Columbians or the Venezualans. The Columbians supply our drugs, the Venezualans our oil. Neither of which the US can afford to do without.

Gmail signup cracked by spam bot

Spammers have cracked the captcha mechanism Gmail uses to make sure you are a human before you can open an e-mail account, leading to a huge increase in the amount of spam sent from Gmail last month, security firm MessageLabs says.

Yahoo Mail and Hotmail captcha mechanisms were broken in July 2007, according to MessageLabs. And now, Gmail has succumbed.

As a result, the proportion of spam sent from Gmail accounts doubled from 1.3 percent in January to 2.6 percent in February...

I am going to be a Web Designer / Developer....

My background is in Desktop and Network Support but that is now boring me and I hit the ceiling in terms of compensation on my current job.

I know a little about HTML and have designed personal sites before. I am going to take some time to develop a solid plan including what I need to learn, how I am going to learn it and how I will market my skills.

One of my desired end results is to develop some revenue-generating sites. I estimate about 2-5 years before I get good enough to start professionally designing and 5-10 years in developing revenue-generating sites.

The hardest part? Coming up with something new to bring to the web and something useful for people that they would actually want to pay for.
