I used to call Craig when I was bored. I'd casually mention UFOs or Government Agents or Government UFO Agents. Then I'd turn on 'speaker phone' and have a good 1/2 hour of entertainment. When he would slow down, I'd say "Ya ne mopoo etomoo povorit" (I can't belive it in Russian) and wind him up again. I miss those calls.

| EU plans monitoring internet to cut calls to terrorism
»news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080418/wr_···ernet_dc
EU states agreed on Friday on tight laws against incitement to terrorism in order to clamp down on militant groups' use of the Internet.
Police say the Internet has taken on huge importance for militants, enabling them to share know-how, plan operations and spread propaganda to a mass audience.
"The Internet is used to inspire and mobilize local terrorists ... functioning as a virtual training camp," a text agreed by ministers said.
"Each member state shall take the necessary measures to ensure that terrorist-linked offences include ... public provocation to commit a terrorist offence, recruitment for terrorism, training for terrorism."
A European Commission official said countries like Spain and Italy already punish public provocation to terrorism but others, like Scandinavian countries, would have to change their legislation to apply the new EU text.
Meaning that you can call for terrorism, but you can then be arrested for it. Not "free speech" like the US thinks of "free speech" -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page

| Use of touch screens soaring in mobiles, UMPCs next
»news.yahoo.com/s/infoworld/20080···ld/98660
The use of touch screens on mobile phones is already soaring, and the introduction of a new line of small computing devices designed to connect people to the Internet is also fueling their use, a manufacturing executive said Thursday.
But what really boosted volume handset sales was a chip developed by Taiwan's MediaTek that made it easy for companies to put touch screens on handsets.
A new category of devices is also coming out that is increasing touch screen use, known variously as ultramobile PCs (UMPCs), mobile Internet devices (MIDs) and a growing list of names. I use a Nokia N810 internet tablet with touch screen capability all the time. I can see why the use of touch screens are growing so quickly. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page

| Instead of blocking the countries... Block the ISPs.
Imagine every major carrier adopting something like the following.
I you have ONE malicious activity generator on your network, you have 2 hours (24 hours, whatever) to wall it off or every IP block registered to you will be blacklisted by us for the duration + one week.
Every time one of our customers tries to reach a site inside your network, they'll be greeted with a page informing them of dangerous activity and unsafe addresses on your network.
Our customer will have an option to click a "notify the authorities" button that will generate one (per customer) email containing the offending IP addresses that will be sent to the ISP abuse department, government law enforcement, appropriate department of commerce, ISP's XO's Mom, etc.
Then we get nasty. | |

| Re: Instead of blocking the countries... Yep, time for ISPs who don't respond to DDOS attacks to start getting blacklisted, the more an ISP doesn't care, the more their value will decrease as its IPs are blocked more and more until uselessness. When russian ISPs and datacenters suddenly realize they can't reach anyone on the "internet", they will think about how to get back on it, or just fork into a russian intranet. Hey, they get 3 billion more IPs that way. | |
