Glitch Postpones Virgin Mobile Unlimited Launch
$40, thirty day unlimited tier to drop in a day or two...
They other day we noted that Sprint-owned Virigin Mobile was launching a $40, unlimited prepaid wireless data plan -- a price point that looks almost virtuous compared to Verizon's newly proposed $80 for 5GB of usage tirt. However, Virgin Mobile appears to have botched the launch of the new unlimited tier, the company telling us a "computer glitch" has delayed the full launch for a day or two (something they're also confirming on Twitter). Until then, their old pricing, which featured caps up to 5 GB for $60 a month, remains all you can see on their website.

Sprint seems to offer best deals; why not more customers ?

Sprint and its subsidiaries look to be offering the best cellphone plans and deals. Everyone says they want good deals. So why aren't Verizon & AT&T customers switching like crazy? For 10's of millions of customers, price isn't the main factor. And that is why prices are still high.

cause Sprint support sucks, they dont have the iphone and thats 100s of millions of people right there, their Simply Everything plan ya includes Voice, Data, Text but voice is only to cell phones so you call Landlines, 800 #'s, etc you still burn through minutes.....

Well Sprint support used to suck.. significantly. Is now considered 'good' by many (as far as carriers go) but it would take years to get past the perception. The Nextel merger was a major debacle and that attributed to most of the losses. Sprint should've merged with Alltel back then instead.

My kid just got on the Virgin Mobil network and so far, from what I've experienced with their web page, it sucks VERY badly.

One phone call to them to activate phone was totally miserable. Hung up on the guy because I couldn't understand a single word he said.

Couldn't use my 2 local bank cards online. Had to use my Amazon/Chase bank card, which I did not want to use.

They tried to charge me $4.00 for the attempts to activate it online also.

Because for several years sprint has been bleeding customer by the 10,000 of thousands a month, many going to Verizon and ATT because Sprint signal coverage and customer service sucked. Sprint has apparently dropped prices to try and cut the bleeding, but the bleeding will continue until they actually fix the real problems. Several years ago the land line division had to change their name, their reputation was so bad.

They really need something between $10 for 100MB for 10 days and $40 for unlimited for 30 days.

This is funny, Under "What are we up to" they have a category called LUV.
LUV just happens to be the stock symbol for Southwest Airlines.

Big deal some may say... another Richard Branson upstart company, Virgin America (airline) is getting their butt kicked by Southwest Airlines. Not only is LUV their stock symbol, but for several decades, Southwest Airlines has been know as the LUV airline.

Looks like Virgin marketing people are clueless about brand recognition.

Kansas City??

At speedtest.net, my comcast service always reports i'm ether near Modesto or San Franciso, as I expect (I'm in Sacramento).

With VirginMobile Broadband, speedtest reports me as being in Kansas City and 1300 miles from northern California.

No wonder VMB is slow.
