So while my cap-free time at Time Warner may not last forever, by terminating my uVerse I have at least done the only thing I can to let AT&T know how much I oppose their new plan. If enough other people did the same, rather than just bitching about it, AT&T might just reverse this BS.

| Re: Nice. I'm a U-Verse user, but at the moment, I'm connected through Optimum Online. It was installed Monday. I'm cautious about making changes, but once I verify that everything is working to my satisfaction, it's bye-bye AT&T.
I got the boost service, but so far I'm only getting speeds in their standard 15Mbs range. A tech is coming tomorrow to check things out and see if there's a problem.

Coincidentally I switched to TWC from Uverse because of the Caps.

I wonder if AT&T will blink if more competitors start offering uncapped, unmetered plans, and use that as a selling point.
I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. -- I, for one, welcome our new Computer Overlords.

| Re: AUP? Pretty much all residential-based service has these types of clauses listed in contracts, TOS, etc.
It just gives the ISP legal rights to shut someone down if they are blatantly abusing their connection (running a server farm out of their home and completely saturating the connection 24x7).
There's a reason why you have residential/business class service.

| Pricing info and upload speeds posted! If you use a San Marcos zip code to access Grande's pricing, you'll see the following speed tiers and pricing:
Starter - 3.0/512 - $27.99 Xpress - 8.0/1.0 - $35.99 Power - 24/3 - $45.99 Ultra - 40/4 - $55.99 Unleashed - 65/5 - $89.99
Cable modem rental appears to be required for these tiers (could you call them and get it removed by buying your own modem?) but it's relatively inexpensive, at $3.95 per month.
Phone service can be had for $8.55 per month (local calling) plus another $3.95 for a modem capable of using the service. $32.99 per month plus the modem rental gets you unlimited local/LD/lots of features.
TV ranges from $21 (basic) to $68 (lots of channels).
Grande used to have an automatic triple play option that would discount your entire bill by 10% if you had two services of 20% if you got three, but it looks like that's not on the cards anymore.
Still, their internet prices, including modem rental, are excellent. In comparison, TWC's 50/5 is $100, 30/5 is $65 (tossup for me...I like upload speed) and 15/2 is $50. U-Verse is more expensive.
I'm anxious to see what TWC does in these markets.

| Re: Pricing info and upload speeds posted! Well, I just answered my own question. Apparently TWC is in a vicious price war with Grande. TWC is offering 10/1 for $30, 15/2 for $40 and 20/2 for $50. On the low end, TWC is a better deal, but for anything above $40 Grande beats TWC...until TWC decides to upgrade San Marcos to DOCSIS 3 and push 20/2 to 30/5.
EDIT: TWC's site says that 10M service has 512k of upload speed. So Grande is slightly better off in comparison.
