HBO Go Coming to Time Warner Cable Very Soon Alongside Max Go Sometime in the Next Month Tipped by kba4
Despite being a spin off of Time Warner, Time Warner Cable still isn't being allowed to offer HBO Go (a Time Warner property), the cable channel's broadband video service. Executives had recently stated they were " optimistic" a deal would get done soon, and that optimism appears warranted. Time Warner Cable has announced via their blog that they'll be offering both HBO Go and Max Go to their customers sometime in the next month after a "brief trial." There's still no word on what the particular hangups in negotiations were, though they're apparently the same hangups plaguing Cablevision, who also still hasn't signed on for the paywalled service, which only is made available if you subscribe to traditional television services.

| | What is the point? What exactly what is the advantage to the broadband feed, if it requires that you already subscribe to Cable TV and HBO, and can only view it from your home connection? | |

| | | | | Re: What is the point? Have you tried? The last time I used it, they were doing IP checks. If you tried to access from an IP assigned to a non-partner ISP, it would deny access. | |

I'm using it on my Verizon HTC Incredible. Its not WiFi only, it works over 3/4G as well just fine. Although I did see a setting for WiFi only. I think its great and makes the current monthly rate for HBO ($20+ a month I think) more worth it. Movies and all of their series are available. I think all of their content is available on it. -- "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix

Ditto. Works fine on my T-Mobile Vibrant, and have used it on my Nook Color running Cynogenmod at various hotspots. Even used it on my Roku over Time Warner before I cancelled my Uverse service. I've never seen any type of IP checking. -- "Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom; it is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." William Pitt the Younger

HBO GO has a larger selection of content. For example, on HBO Go, you can view every Sopranos episode. With "On Demand" you can view five episodes from season six. The same for nearly every show that HBO produced. In addition, you can watch it on a tablet anywhere as opposed to a television connected to a cable.
