P2P website Slyck is disputing last week's research by gearmaker Ellacoya suggesting that HTTP now accounts for the majority of Internet traffic. They ask several other industry traffic watchers and find that while HTTP and P2P in some cases do equally contribute to 35-40% of all traffic, Ellacoya included data from ISPs that are throttling P2P (since that's their business, obviously). So what are the real numbers?
"We find the actual P2P numbers to be much higher (at least 50-60% of total traffic) in most regions and ISPs and in some cases to stand at 80% (even today)," Eitan Efron of Oversi tells the website.
