Hatch Takes Aim at Illegal Downloading (old news - 10:51PM Tuesday Jun 17 2003)
The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said Tuesday he favors developing new technology to remotely destroy the computers of people who illegally download music from the Internet.
If he gives two warnings before the self destruct, then he's being nicer than some hackers and most viruses. Dumb idea anyway, though. Someone will figure out the code(and post it on the Web) so no one will be able to safely use the Web again.
Just a notion, How can they tell if the person is illegially downloading the music? Arn't we allowed to have our 1 legal backup of our cd's or tapes. Well, They can't tell, Thus, making what their doing illegal. Correct me if i'm wrong on that.
