Hawaii Gets 20Mbps Cable Time Warner Oceanic bumps top speed Wednesday Feb 04 2009 09:17 EDT Tipped by Konaguy Hawaii's ranking as one of the slowest broadband States in the nation just got a small boost, with Time Warner Oceanic saying they'll be boosting speeds from 15Mbps to 20Mbps. Time Warner had previously stated they'd be offering symmetrical 100Mbps connections, but only to one high-end island resort. This 20Mbps boost remains DOCSIS 2.0 -- Time Warner Cable has yet to solidify their DOCSIS 3.0 upgrade plans, be they in Hawaii or on the mainland. All we know so far is that New York City will be one of the first launch markets. |

It is definitely going to be installed in the home of President Obama's sister.

High Speed??This will gve high speed to destinations in the State, but how fast is the connection to websites in the continental unites states, the far east or Europe? I think this represents the bottleneck.

Re: High Speed??I have HawTel's 11Mbps service. I get pretty good speeds to the US Mainland usually. If you look at this map, you'll see Hawaii has plenty of bandwidth. » www.trust-us.ch/cryptome ··· ball.htm

Re: High Speed?? I have relatives in Kula, maui (upcountry) on Oceanic since the system was new, speeds and speed upgrades have NEVER matched the advertise value (though most of the lowlands seem to do OK.) yes there is adaquite capacity to the mainland (add 50-80ms for latentcy to the west coast, plus transit within the mainland.) and asia. a few areas on Oahu and the big island will get high speed, the rest will see business as usual. Hawtel has repeatly proven themselves pretty useless for their location (lucky the phone works)

Inaccurate! This article is inaccurate. Thomas Magnum would not be able to order the broadband as Jonathan Quayle Higgins III was the secret proprietor of the estate!

Re: Inaccurate! So Higgins was Robin Masters? Maybe the Magnum pic wasn't such a good idea.LOL Magarret from Hawaii 5-0 instead perhaps? Most people don't remember that show.

Re: Inaccurate!» en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnum_piA recurrent theme throughout the series in later seasons involves Magnum's suspicion that Higgins is actually Robin Masters. This possibility is never fully substantiated or refuted--Higgins' dual identity remains an open question until the final episode, where Higgins first admits he is, but later suggests what he had said about Robin Masters was a lie. (Whether he means during this episode, or the entire series is left an open question.)

Re: Inaccurate!Yes, I know about all that. I was 90% sure Higgns was Robin Masters before the last episode. Then they had to go and do that.
Well, I guess since nobody cares about the topic its OK to go off topic.
