Today I phoned Rogers regarding "Rogers HiSpeed Extreme". I was disappointed to hear that I would have to buy my own 5 year old outdated modem for $99.95 minus a $ 20.00 rebate. Misleading advertising "this new service is available at the same monthly rate as Rogers Hi-Speed Internet." Its not the same monthly rate if Rogers make the customer buy a used ,old modem for $99.95.What a way for Rogers to dispose old modems.
Maybe you need to read a bit more carefully? On the website it state at the bottom...
quote: Must purchase a Rogers approved DOCSIS cable modem.
And you are the buyer... Who said you need to buy the old modem? Simple refuse and go to a Rogers Cable outlet to pick up a new modem.... Then register using that... Or find other reps that is willing to swap the modem for ya...
The requirement is a DOCSIS 2.0 modem ... Since DOCSIS 2 modems have only been out a year, and Rogers has only just started using DOCSIS 2 modems about 6 months (with the Webstar) you will NOT be getting a 5 year old modem!
