Hughes Promises 100 Mbps With 2021 Satellite Launch Tuesday Aug 15 2017 07:40 EDT With their last new satellite barely launched, Hughes is already hyping the launch of its next satellite -- which the company promises will be able to deliver speeds up to 100 Mbps to end users. Hughes Network Systems, a unit of EchoStar, this week announced it has struck a deal with Space Systems Loral (SSL) to build its next-generation Jupiter 3 Ultra High Density Satellite (UHDS), which will be formally named EchoStar XXIV. Hughes says the new satellite will more than double the Hughes Ka-band capacity currently over North America, and is expected to launch sometime in early 2021. |

promises brokensatellite based isp's ALWAYS disappoint.
they fail to deliver on speed, or upload, or latency, or uptime, or all of the above.
if satellites could ever really work as a broad area isp provider you would not see so much r&d being done using drones and balloons.
i don't expect this 2021 effort will be any different. just more wasted investor money and compromise. | |
