kudos:3 | I hate CraigsList Man oh man, I feel ya! I recently posted some memory for sale on CraigsList and have had only two responses, both of which were scammers. One was blatant, much like the ones you received. The other I actually thought was a legitimate buyer at first, but as I tried to progress with him he kept confusing the matter and I finally told him to bug off. He would have fooled someone who is less careful, I'm sure.
But besides the scammers that plague CraigsList, the site itself is a mess. I have never seen such a horrible and unintuitive interface become so popular with the masses. But I digress.
Fight the scammers!

| Re: I hate CraigsList CL has its own inner beauty plus it is incredibly fast, and you can make custom searches and drag the RSS to your reader, and get a jump on anyone else. I won't have anyone talk badly about it. I think it avoided chrome on purpose and wouldn't be so huge if it had gone the route of other classifieds sites.
One thing though, Craig should allow a flag to be set on listings that limits viewers IPs to "your city" or "your country". Or just eliminate Nigeria from even being able to see any CL domain except for african ones (if they have any). That and blacklisting open proxies would be a big hurdle for african scammers to overcome. | |
| | | | Hey Jim...I have to agree with you on the craigs site being a mess! Sometimes it is effective though...it's been a hit or miss for me, mostly if I'm giving something away I've gotten contacted and pretty quickly.
I also really love the "best of" though!
I started using another site, Listasaurus.com, recently because it's a much nicer and more intuitive site--and they also pay you to list your ads (every little bit counts in my book!). Even nicer, they just launched video ads, and though I'm not very good at that yet, it's a pretty cool feature.
Anyhoo be careful being a CL hater!! His userbase might come after you...lol... | |

| Re: I hate CraigsList Note that ebay is leveraging their stake to try to take the market away from CL. They have a new free classifieds site that is so empty you can see a pin (or spam) drop. But it functions very much like CL. It is called OogaBoogaPoPo or JuJiTsuJiJi or some silly name like that I can never remember and least of all spell.
It apparently refers to something about villages in the stone age. I always have to google for it to find it.
Should have just registered ebayslist.org and be done with it. | |
