by mig Thursday 12-Feb-2004
"... And according to MR editor-in-chief Peter Glaskowsky, Intel and AMD had better watch out.

The 970FX is the 90nm die-shrink of the original 130nm PowerPC 970, launched back in October 2002 and finally shipped last summer, most notably inside Apple's Power Mac G5.

Re: proprietary

omg please ... when we can get a g5 processor cheap enough to compete with an x86 based computer, and have macs around the same price as the x86 based system we can talk .. Maybe the g5 will get to the same clockspeed as my old computer?

970"FX" ?

Still though, good news for Apple at least.

Re: 970"FX" ?

Good question.

At this point, it's almost like "who ripped off who?"

MACs have always been popular. You can find them at nearly every bank outside. Maybe inside your NIC too!

bla bla, even if the cpu is powerfull, theres like no games on mac. That will force people to continue to buy p4s and a64s. Good news for mac fan boys tho.

Re: power consumption

It's almost a given for a powerbook based on at least a G5 1.6 GHz chip.
