Prob is; 95% of the ISPs have no interest in taking orders from Big Media.

When one needs to feed themselves and their family, entertainment is the first thing that gets cut back, especially when its quality gradually declines and accessibility and pricing do not improve. If MPAA/RIAA really want us to spend more money on their movies/music, here's a list of things they can try to do:
•Speak with our employers and convince them to give us bigger raises. As for those who are unemployed, get their ex-employers to bring their jobs back from overseas.
•Speak with our landlords and/or banks and convince them to lower rent or mortgage payments.
•Speak with utility companies and convince them to lower their bills.
•Speak with companies producing food, oil/gas as well as others that produce bare necessities and convince them to lower their prices.
Logically speaking, if we have more money left in our pockets, we might spend it on entertainment.

Here in NY if you get 11 points in 18 months or less, you can kiss your DL goodbye for at least 6 months I think, after which you will have to re-apply and go through the whole process from scratch. In regards to points, you get 2 for speeding 0-10 over the limit, 4 for 11-20. Going 40 over the limit instantly gets you 11 and thus DL revocation on the spot. So does DWI, for obvious reasons.
The above is understandable though. Since cars can be dangerous weapons if operated improperly and can hurt or kill people instantly, the government considers driving a privilege, licenses people to drive and puts measures in place to take these privileges away from those who abuse them. I can't say that that illegal downloading causes as much physical harm as improper operation of motor vehicle does, and a similar system is not the answer.

Long story short, you are infringing upon copyrighted material (you can actually see the mark on the logo). Is MLB going to scour the net 24/7 to make sure everything's clear and paid for? Hell no. However, you can be guaranteed that if they made so much as a peep in DLR's direction regarding your avatar, it'd be summarily deleted right there and then to cover ass.

| Artist/Studio Compensation Most likely if you are getting copyrighted content on the web and you're not paying for it (either download fees such as iTunes or subscription fees such as Netflix or Rhapsody), then it is most likely pirated.
My iTunes library has 100 percent legally acquired material, either through my CD collection from the pre-downloads era (90's and early 2000's) or the iTunes store. We also have many cassette tapes and vinyl records but it is cheaper and much less of a hassle to just download the songs on iTunes as ripping a record or a cassette is time consuming. My mother remembers 8-tracks, but we don't have any of those lying around.
I still buy CDs now and then as some artists (like Garth Brooks, Kid Rock, and Def Leopard) refuse to make their collections available on iTunes or any other digital music service. It mostly has to do with the artist compensation from Apple (although many of the above mentioned Artists are not available on Rhapsody either).
A good free and legal source of Copyrighted material is your local public library. You check out a CD, DVD, or VHS tape for two weeks on average (depends on local library's loan period, which varies by jurisdiction) and return it by the due date or face fines (which vary by jurisdiction). Just don't make copies of library materials as that is also piracy. If your local library does not have a particular title, just ask the librarian as they may be able to get it by interlibrary loan from another library. Here in Mass (I am in Western Mass), we can request materials from any library in Central and Western Mass.

Unsuspecting people will be changing their WiFi passwords in response to infringement notices, but will still get hacked again and again, unless the individual knows about the WPS exploit and turns it off on his router....
Point is even with "secure" WiFi using WPA2, a lot of people are going to get accused of infringing copyright when somebody else used their connection. | |
