Iceland Wants to Ban Online Porn
'If We Can Send a Man to the Moon...'
Having already made the printing and distribution of porn illegal, Iceland now appears ready to take on the impossible: filter porn from the Internet. According to the Telegraph
, the country's government is considering making it illegal to use Icelandic credit cards to buy porn, as well as the implementation of Internet filters. "We have to be able to discuss a ban on violent pornography, which we all agree has a very harmful effects on young people and can have a clear link to incidences of violent crime," insists Iceland interior minister Ogmundur Jonasson (though it's not really all that "clear"
). "If we can send a man to the moon, we must be able to tackle porn on the internet," insists one of his advisers.
