I get dozens of these type emails per month. Until recently most of them are very short and generic. Something along the lines of "great site, I've linked to you, please link to me at www.chainsawscheap.com". Perhaps these generic emails are less effective than they used to be because this one ups the ante.
The link is to a .info site that tries to capture comcast sign-ups for the affiliate fee. For obvious reasons I'm not including it.
Just a friendly tip to webmasters considering this method to obtain quality inbound links: Actually try to sound like you've visited the site you are begging for a link. Ask them if they have a directory they can be considered for, and if not perhaps they'd consider creating one. Offer some constructive feedback. Sign the email properly. If you're really offering a link exchange, include the page you've added the target site. Lastly, actually be a site not a big advertisement. Otherwise your email is just SPAM.
I just wanted to thank you for maintaining such an informative site. The tips and different resources you offer to your visitors are great. I'm a frequent visitor and enjoy the layout of the site. I recently bought a few domains and I am now interested in testing out my web designs. Your broadband internet information is very helpful. I'll be using some the tips on my sites, when I'm designing them. They'll just be a little something extra to make my site look better. I really appreciate the reliability of your information. I'm pretty much ready to go. I just have to design the sites. I plan to use Comcast high speed internet as my internet service provider. I found a very reliable Comcast site at www.(edited). It offers great information on Comcast plans and packages. Your visitors may find it a helpful site and I figured I would pass it along since your site already provides bundles of helpful information. I hope the site helps you and feel free to validate it before adding it to your site. Again thank you for all of the useful information and keep up the great work.
How did this email strike me? I just see a lazy SEO at work: a very long list of email addresses, and a blast email. Trash.
