Insight Communications is increasing speeds for its broadband Internet customers in the Louisville area and Southern Indiana.

Upstream speeds for Insight Broadband customers are doubling to 256 kilobits per second and downstream speeds are increasing from 3 megabits to 4 megabits per second. Insight Broadband Plus service also increases to 4Mbps downstream and speeds up to 384Kbps upstream.

Both increases will automatically be available to customers in early September at no additional cost. BellSouth offers high-speed Internet access over telephone lines that can reach as fast as 3Mbps downstream and 384Kbps upstream.
