November 26, 2003 Softbank plans to launch Japan's fastest DSL service in January, heating up competition with other DSL operators and fiber-based Internet access services.
Softbank said it would offer the new service, with downlink speeds of up to 45 Mbps, in January. Rival operators such as eAccess and NTT East, which is a regional unit of NTT, currently offer DSL services with a maximum speed of 40 Mbps. Full story Telecom Asia
