JetBlue Testing In-Flight E-mail, IM But no web browsing....yet.... Tipped by DotMac4
JetBlue acquired 1Mhz of spectrum last year at FCC auction, and has now equipped just one of the company's Airbus A320 planes with wireless broadband service. Nicknamed "BetaBlue," the plane is part of a partnership with Yahoo and RIM to offer in-flight broadband services. At the moment users are restricted to Yahoo e-mail and IM services while in flight, but the company is exploring their options. The JetBlue system is scheduled to make its debut Tuesday on Flight 641 from New York to San Francisco, according to the Associated Press.
