Johns Hopkins Censors Crypto Professor's Critical Blog Post
Cryptography Professor Matthew Green works at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and had plenty to say recently about the recent NSA encryption revelations. "Not only does the worst possible hypothetical I discussed appear to be true, but it's true on a scale I couldn't even imagine," argued Green in a post. "I'm no longer the crank. I wasn't even close to cranky enough." Unfortunately Johns Hopkins decided to censor the blog post
, purportedly because it "contained a link or links to classified material and also used the NSA logo" (all the material was already in the public domain). Unfortunately for Johns Hopkins, they now get to learn just what the Streisand Effect is.Update
: The University has since apologized
, saying they acted on "inadequate information."
