Fares at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport and Dallas Love Field jumped during the first quarter of 2008, according to a new report, but Love Field remained one of the nations cheapest airports.
One-way domestic fares averaged $383 at D/FW during the quarter, up 7 percent from the same period in 2007, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Love Field prices averaged $210 each way, up nearly 8 percent.
Airlines at both airports have been steadily raising prices in recent years, in large part because of increased fuel costs. American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, has a major hub at D/FW, while Southwest Airlines, which is based in Dallas, is the dominant airline at Love Field.
Nationwide, fares were up more than 4 percent.
