MS-Comcast Broadband Deal?
Rumblings from the Google War front...
by Karl Bode Friday 23-Dec-2005 tags: competition · business · content
After Google bought a billion dollar, 5% stake in AOL, they felt the need to explain the deal at the Google blog, to calm people worried about ad-overload. Meanwhile rumors are surfacing today about a counter Microsoft deal with a tier-one broadband provider (or several). The fairly undeveloped rumors are based on this blog entry by Microsoft program manager Ian McAllister.

Comcast; TWC; or Yahoo??

The rumors seem pretty vague, but at least one blog poster thinks it is Yahoo and not a cable company.
McAllister's posting was noted late Wednesday in the Tales from the Web 2.0 Frontier blog of Richard MacManus, a Microsoft watcher and independent Web analyst in Wellington, New Zealand. He speculated that the company mentioned in the blog might be Yahoo Inc., but neither Microsoft nor Yahoo has announced an expansion of their current partnership.

Re: Comcast; TWC; or Yahoo??

I dont think it is comcast either they way he said it they said he was 99% sure we were customers. while comcrap is the largest cable provider in the US it far from reaching that status and too many poeople have other broadband options from other cable cos and dsl providers also i could not call comcast a tier 1 company.

Since Microsoft cannot embrace and extend the internet. It shall buy and extinguish.

coming from a member of the general public i can understand why you feel this way but microsoft has already embraced and extended the Internet & if it weren't for microsoft, where would be all be and please learn how to spell Internet the correct way, use a capital "I", never a lower cased i, that's just common sence even for the general public.

Google-Comcast?

Whatever happened to Google and Comcast teaming together to take a stake in AOL? I know Google is getting its 5% share but what happened to Comcast in all of this?

NO F'N WAY

I will go back to dial-up before I accept Comcast-MSN.

MSN is the reason I do not have Qwest DSL

Re: NO F'N WAY

Actually I think I will switch over to Linksys. That's the wireless internet service that came with my friends new laptop. He says he can connect to them just about every place he goes and the speeds are always pretty good.
