A magnitude 6.1 earthquake has hit off the coast of Vancouver Island, the biggest yet in a swarm of quakes that has shaken the region this week.
This latest earthquake hit at 5:37 this morning, and was centred 152 kilometres west-southwest of Port Hardy.
Calls to businesses in the town so far show no one felt it, and there was no damage.
No word yet on whether this quake has triggered a tsunami warning.
The quake was detected first by the US Geological Survey, which reports it hit about 10-kilometres below the ocean floor.
There have been 18 quakes since Tuesday, all of them in the magnitude of four to five until today.
