Phone Companies Losing Customers

quote:
Analyst Craig Moffett at Sanford Bernstein called the decline in broadband a "body blow" to phone companies, which have been using broadband to offset a long-running loss of subscribers to regular phone service. Now, both are declining, he noted.

That was a difficult one to predict, wasn't it?

Verizon had the right idea: Investment now for prosperity later. Then they decided to change course and follow the doomed SBC game plan. In the long run: It is the customers and investors that will lose.

Verizon chose to focus on a service with better margins...wireless.

Re: Phone Companies Losing Customers

Wireless won't replace broadband, no matter how much the old TelCos would wish it otherwise.

Re: Phone Companies Losing Customers

That's not what I wrote.

I hypothesize that once the LTE build and all of the backhaul is in place, VZ will return to fiber builds....at least in the markets that it cares about.
