Anything you transmit over public (unlicensed) airwaves in the clear can be heard, monitored, and recorded by anyone else. It is a longstanding principle of public broadcasting.
If google cracked encryption then that would be an issue. Just listening (from the street, mind you, not private property) to what people's networks are spewing into the public domain is not an invasion of privacy in any way. I love how people also get up in arms about this... Yet casually take it from the government.
Honestly i trust Google more, I know any info they collect is to make a buck.
