| That's a very bad precedent That means perfectly legal activity could have you convicted in draconian areas.
Let me give you an example. Lets say you're a freelance journalist and you write for a political blog about efforts at freedom in China.
The Chinese government decides your articles are illegal in China, and you're convicted of espionage in absentia. You may not even be aware of the trial, but you're tried and convicted.
Now, 5 years later you're invited to cover a "Freedom March" in China as a journalist. You travel to China, the Government becomes aware as you enter the country, and suddenly you're picked up and thrown in a deep dark hole--- forever.
Nice precedent, there. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini
