Re: I really hope you didn't fall for the April Fool's joke.
Obviously it's the one about the Amerikan Government pushing for more tools to spy on the Amerikan Sheeple. They would NEVER do such a thing as they believe in the rights of the people given to them by the Constitution. They even swear to "defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States of Amerika" when they take office! Nice try Karl...but you'll NEVER make us believe we have a fascist government... nope...nope...not in a million years. -- "when the people have suffered many abuses under the control of a totalitarian leader, they not only have the right but the duty to overthrow that government." - The U.S. Declaration of Independence
Comcast Internet is good (when it works) but their customer service is outright horrible. It should not take six tech visits to find out what is causing dropping connections and they play the blame customer computer/router game.
I just dropped the TV and phone portion for a Verizon/DIRECTV offer. The picture quality on DTV is much better.

Re: Wow Ratings.....
I am on the Blast (50/10) tier which is $61.99 per month since I have basic cable ($5.02/month in my area). If I just had Internet only, it would be $74.99 per month.
That's not too bad. We have the same offer in our area with Verizon and Direct TV. I ran the numbers and if we went with just CC for internet and the Verizon deal it would come to the same per month as if we just had CC for triple play. I do understand your situation why you went the way you did because of CC's customer service.
My internet seems to have picked up in terms of speed and quality since I turned in the Comcast receivers. Maybe there was too much insertion loss or ingress. Or maybe I needed an amplifier (which I don't have).
The satellite installer gave me an extra "professional" quality ground block for the cable which I swapped out the RadioShack ground block and it seems to work better now as well.
