| Re: Bring it on! We have the 1.5, 3, 5 and 7. It all depends on how far the CO is. I am connected to the CO now with 3meg service but have a RT down the street from me. Unfortunatly the RT only does 1.5. If the RT was fiber fed and could do 7meg, I would request my pair be moved in a heart beat. | |

We have some very progressive outfits building out fiber, and wireless networks and they are free from interference from Qwest.  Unfortunately Cheyenne is one of the cherries Qwest retained.

Qwest files for AND GETS forbearance in Omaha because of the Cox competition and then from what I see here gives up.
What a steaming pile of ****!
They have run McLeod out of the market because of their new copper rent and now put upgrading their own network on the back burner.
I was talking with someone from Iowa Telecomm the other day about ethernet over copper in Des Moines at $200/meg symmetrical and NOBODY can offer that but Cox because Qwest won't do it themselves and won't let anyone else do it either with their copper. Cox gets $2300 for 6MB
It's funny, in 1994 Qwest picked the fight with Cox to offer TV and now Cox kicks their a** to the point they will not even fight.

| Re: Where is Omaha? Qwest has pretty much lost the Omaha market and they aren't really in the mood to try and gain it back. The commercials are pretty accurate by cox saying 8 out of every 10 households in Omaha has Cox.
Granted, they could go balls out and wire up FTTN everywhere in Omaha and launch a huge advertising spree to get back all those customers they lost, but they are taking the lazy way out and just trying to keep the other markets. | |

Cox touts their 128/128 Cox Super Value Internet @ $19.99 then compares it to the 1.5/896 Qwest has for $26.99.
Cox's $26.99 plan is 1.5/256.
You can't fight the details and $19.99 is less than $26.99, but I would be mad if my EVDO phone had 128/128 speed let alone my cable modem.
It's all in the details.
I had been on DirecTV for 4 years and switched back to Cox in the past few weeks, I had no idea they did so many self inserts of their own ads. It seems like every 10 minutes there is a bash Qwest ad.
I miss the old USWest when it comes to being innovative.

I agree they can't prohibit however in the case of "The Omaha Order" they can make it darn hard.
You have done some really cool things there in Des Moines however why would anyone invest in Omaha with the climate the way it is now. It's a shame. Would you bring your RT's out to the neighborhoods here?
Rumor has it the next gen network will NOT be open to Qhost, I don't know if that's true, you would know better than me.
The loss of McLeod is REALLY going to hurt me in Omaha, and I will more than likely end up buying from you in Des Moines to make up for how mad I will be at McLeod when they bail. There will also be the massive hole left because of Lighthouse bailing with McLeod.
Omaha will soon be a duopoly, Pinpoint bought a bunch of McLeods assets in Omaha however they still have no last mile. | |

I'm not sure that Q accomplished anything at all in Omaha, the only competitors that pulled out are the ones that were purchasing elements from them, the competitor that was soundly beating them has their own network entirely.
I didn't realize that McLeod was pulling out that completely. Who is Pinpoint?

| Existing VDSL I've had Qwest's VDSL TV and data since 2001. Although it's been rock-solid, it is showing its age. They recently added an HDTV option, but I've resisted since I have a TiVo and Qwest doesn't offer a CableCard option. They have a waiver for their current platform (on the grounds that it will be sunsetted); I would hope their new platform offers it. | |

It is not FTTH but at least each HDTV channel gets its own copper pair the last mile. | |

| I have had Qwest VDSL, not TV, online only in Scottsdale now for two years. I have never had any downtime. The product is great, but this is a much needed speed increase to compete with Cox in the area. I have called the VDSL techs and they have heard of this upgrade but do not have any dates yet. | |

| Why bother Why should Qwest bother with an aggressive upgrade plan when their real hope is a sellout of their business to Vz or ATT? Qwest offers their customers the least for the most$, compared to the other LECs. They are consistently behind the curve. Living in a region served by Qwest, I can only say the day they either fold or get bought cannot come too soon. They are the Amish of the telcom/tech world. And who thinks they should offer IPTV when they can't get POTS right, anyhow? | |

USWest had DSL service almost of before most major companies. USWest had Airtouch or a part of it. They had a cable company ? sold to I believe ATT. USWEST was plundered legally.
There are still some people working at the new Qwest that care and are ahead of the curve. Just not as much cash or credit available as other companies.
Bring in another CEO looking for his next retirement quick. They need young new forward thinking CEO. Not a old guy that has been around. Has experience but just looking out for his masters.
