NY Times Doesn't Much Like Sprint's Planned Takeover of T-Mobile Monday Jan 06 2014 10:17 EDT In a new editorial, the New York Times states they're not exactly fans of the recent rumors that Sprint plans to acquire T-Mobile sometime during the early part of this year. "Because T-Mobile uses a different wireless technology than Sprint, SoftBank could face significant technological hurdles in trying to integrate the two," states the Times. "But that’s a separate issue; the main issue is whether consumers would benefit from the acquisition, and the evidence suggests they would not." It still remains highly unlikely that the FCC would approve the elimination of one of the industry's four biggest competitors, though where FCC boss Tom Wheeler stands on the issue remains the wild card. |

Even A Stopped Clock Is Right Twice A DayWhat the NYT likes is usually an indication to me that I ought to be looking the other way, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day. In this case, I think the NYT has it right.
