clubs: | Merger! I see a Rhapsody sucking them up. If that really happened, I'd find it incredibly funny considering that I started out with Rhapsody and left for Napster since they didn't have the music I wanted.

| they're not the best Sadly, they missed the boat by waiting too long after the original. Should've sold those mp3s YEARS ago folks...
Rhapsody still has the best service IMO, even though I'm not a huge fan of their client software.
Paired with a Sansa ("R" series...) it has been pretty good. Put darn near anything I want on my portable and not have to buy tracks is nice. New album comes out that I might like? No problem. Plop it on the Sansa and give it a listen.
Take 'em on Rhapsody... You already swallowed Yahoo Music whole.
I'll keep my Rhapsody subscription as long as I can. Been a member for many years now, and I don't see the point in giving up access to the service. Just too convenient to push play on anything they have.
Oh, and even if you aren't a subscriber, you can still get 25 free plays per month from »www.rhapsody.com with no strings attached...
Should still work on Linux and Macs too - web based playback is handled by a browser plugin (works w/Firefox). AFIK, this makes them the ONLY (legal) cross platform service... | |

I have it installed on two computers (IIRC, you're allowed
up to three at the same time), mine here at home, and a PC
at my bench at work.
It's been really good for streaming and recording albums
that I haven't been able to find on Usenet or easily get
through p2p. I've often gotten requests from co-workers.

| DRM free music and Napster As a Napster user myself, I'm glad they're finally allowing you to purchase mp3s, something everyone should've done from the beginning. I'm currently on the pay per track plan, with no subscription or anything. this way, I know I can download mp3s of stuff I like and be able to play them anywhere I want, and not be restricted to the PC which I downloaded the stuff onto! Is it true if you subscribe to one of the all you can eat plans, that you can only get files in DRM infested WMA form, and you can't buy mp3s if you want? If so, I want know part of that. Any store that offers me the ability to download in a standard format playable on any computer on my network, I will fully support. I don't think Itunes is quite there yet, plus being totally blind Itunes isn't usable to me anyway. So currently I go between Rhapsody and Napster. | |
