The writing was on the wall earlier this week when behavioral advertising firm NebuAD's CEO Bob Dykes quickly made for the exit
. Now the Washington Post
reports that NebuAD's plans to buy your browsing data in order to deliver you custom advertising have been "suspended." As if they had a choice with Congress investigating the privacy ramifications of their deep packet inspection technology, formerly cooperative ISPs now giving them the cold shoulder and the CEO jumping ship. It appears that NebuAD will simply revert to being a more traditional ad delivery network. Next up: someone in the media or Congress realizing that ISPs have been selling your clickstream data
for years on the sly, with no opt-out process whatsoever.
