Netflix First Streaming Provider to Win an Emmy
by Karl Bode 09:48AM Tuesday Sep 24 2013
Netflix already made history back in July when it was announced original Netflix series had been nominated for 14 Emmys. Now Netflix has taken the history-making further after David Fincher won an Emmy for directing Netflix's original series "House of Cards." The company won two additional Emmys at last week's Creative Arts Emmys. Variety has a full list of the Emmy winners available here.

They should win more.

House of Cards is just that awesome.

The British one they based it off of isn't too shabby either.

Re: They should win more.

To be honest, there was some really stiff competition this year. I've heard many more people comment about Breaking Bad and Game Of Thrones on Twitter than House Of Cards.

And yet, this is just a start for Netflix. Even HBO had humble beginnings. Imagine Netflix five years from now.

Yeah I think Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones are better TV shows for sure. I very much like the original content idea though...hopefully Netflix can keep this tempo and success going.

Well deserved

I was quite unhappy when Netflix did their attempted split apart of streaming and disk and cancelled shortly thereafter to go to Amazon Prime. While I enjoy prime for the shipping (albeit they do jack up their prices a bit for the 2 day "free" shipping") Netflix has come a long way in their streaming. Movies are ok but and their TV selection is quite broad and pretty good. Their original series' though are very, very good. We like Lilyhammer and my wife and I have been watching Hemlock Grove. I don't feel they are quite as polished as HBO, but they are really good considering they are fairly new to the game (in comparison with premium channels) and not too far off the mark. In particular I think they have very good analysis of producing shows that people actually want to watch instead of feeding pet projects supported by blockbuster TV shows (Game of Thrones). I applaud their efforts and look forward to watching their original content.

Orange Is The New Black

We loved Orange is the New Black. We tried to pace ourselves, but ended up watching the season like we were eating Chiclets! Can't wait for next season on Netflix.

Re: Orange Is The New Black

Yep that one is great too. I've only seen House of Cards and Orange is the new black, and both are excellent shows.
