On 9/12/2001...After Sept 11th, American citizens told their government to never let 9-11 happen ever again. Laws were passed so that massive electronic surveillance could take place to see who the shitbags over here were talking to over there. And from my limited knowledge, it worked for the most part. Now that information has been leaked as to how our government has tried to stop 9-11 from happening again, those same citizens have gotten all butthurt. Mainly because they think they are so god damned important and so full of themselves that they think that they are a target by our government. I'll tell you something. You aren't that fuckin' important. Very few people are. The Feds don't give a shit that you go to 4chan, or reddit, a porn site, or even some random anti-government website. You just aren't what they are looking for. The NSA is looking for the individuals that are "talking" to the shitbag terrorists on the other side of the planet. They are not looking for you, my Royal Fullness. So take a damned chill pill. If you've garnered the attention of the Feds, you've done something extraordinary. And to be honest, 99.9999% of you dumb-asses haven't.
So this is how it works from stories I've heard and info that anyone can piece together. When we go into a country or give money to a country, the Intel Agencies follow along as well. The Agencies plug their equipment in the Country's networks either overtly (download data out of the 5E Lucent Central Office switch) or covertly (throw up a pass-through antenna near the German Chancellor's home) because in most of those Countries, the government "owns" the telecom networks to some degree. The Intel folks gather all the data, analyze it, and possibly identify threats or targets. This can be done in real time on a known target or historical on possible targets. All that data with the analytics gets sent over to the States to Intel Agencies over here (you know about 1 or 2 of them). Over here, they take the data from around the globe and then merge it with the data that they collected here. They can now match up who the bad people (over there) are talking to over here. They map out the terrorists networks. Remember hearing on the news after 9/11 that Osama bin Laden stopped using a cell phone? And that after the SEALs killed him that it was said that the CIA couldn't "find" a phone line, internet, etc going into the compound? He got smart. He knew personal electronic devices are dangerous to criminals and terrorist. The Intel/LEO world relies heavily on ELSUR (Electronic Surveillance). People go around everyday all day with that little beacon on their hip or in their purse. Not having a clue that it identifies you, where you are, where you've been, who you know, who you've talked to (and when), and quite possibly where you are planning on going. This all came about though because after 9-11, people said don't let this happen again. So the government is trying to not let it happen again. The FBI/CIA/Black Box Agency have to be right 100% of the time. The terrorists only have to be right once. Our government doesn't really want to invade anyone's privacy. Judges (FISC, Federal Magistrates, etc) sure as hell don't. But the government has to collect all that data to find the god damned terrorists over here and/or their sympathizers. It outright sucks that it has to be done. But the Intel agencies don't care what the average (even non-average) American does. They just don't. If it doesn't involve something with regards to National Security, they don't care. Do terrorists view porn or download songs. Yep. Have you ever seen a terrorist caught and brought up on charges here of viewing porn or downloading songs illegally? Nope. It doesn't matter and nobody cares. So all this Intel collection is just trying to prevent another terrorist attack. Will it always be perfect? Nope. Boston proved it. There just aren't enough "eyes" out there to watch every potential swinging dick that's pissed off at the USA. You've got the idiots out there that are all up in arms about "Teh Governmetz collectin my bytez". Big fucking deal. Have they come and knocked down your door for looking at cleavage or downloading a song? Nope. They don't care. Hell, most people are feeding the data collection frenzy. All those stupid people taking pictures and posting them to social networking while tagging people and where they are. And they wonder why their car runs when they put gas in it. |
