New NFL Vest Rule (With Sponsor Logos) Has Some Seeing Red (old news - 01:40AM Friday Jul 20 2007) Tipped by mromero
(July 18, 2007) - The National Football League has passed a new rule for the upcoming season that requires photographers at NFL games to wear red vests with Canon and Reebok logos on them, and the news is not being very well received by some editors and photography directors as word spreads through the journalism community.
There's gonna be a WHOLE lotta pissed off Nikon, Oly, Pentax, shooters out there! lol.
(Although, 99% of the NFL phots I have seen are credited to Canon and the field shots show "white" zoom lenses with very few black so Canon does dominate the sport.)
I always get a chuckle about people getting overheated over something they have zero control over. This isn't PBS, it's the NFL. They are perfectly within their rights to require such a thing. So, if one doesn't like it, they can go shoot something else.
There are so much scarier things going on with regards to photography. Can't shoot landmarks? Can't sell/share photos of Copyrighted things?
If people want to get outraged, please do it where it could possibly mean something.
