Re: 10GB?With T-Mobile's 2.5G network, it'll take you a whole month just to get to 5GB. Unless you get their oddball 1700Mhz 3G service that no datacard supports.

Re: 10GB?2.5G, that was so 3 years ago for other carriers. I do not want to remember those times If only the TMOB customers knew what they were missing

T-Mobile just doesn't sell it. Stelera wireless in Oklahoma sells them unlocked. Last i checked, the 3g data card from them cost about $200.00

The term "Unlimited Data" should not be allowed under any circumstances.. unless of course, its UNLIMITED. I dont understand how this continues.

Much better than 5. And they should at least call it "Virtually Unlimited" or something similar. Saying simply unlimited should be fraud. Period.

but *STILL* not unlimited!
|
| | |
Re: 10GB?said by dvd536:but *STILL* not unlimited! T-Mo's "unlimited data" IS unlimited. The 10GB cab is a bandwidth speed cap. If/when you hit 10GB, they (threaten to) throttle your throughput to 50kbps- they don't shut you off or charge you extra. The amount of data is unlimited- the SPEED of the data isn't! This is similar to what the satellite internet providers like DirectWay used to do, to "punish" those that used more data than the typical customer, without breaking their promise to offer "unlimited" service.
|
|
Metro PCs still goodI am still leaning more towards Metro PCs even though I am a current TMO customer. But hard to pass out a decent deal like unlimited voice and data for 45 bucks.
|
| |
Re: Metro PCs still gooddata is extra. Why MetroPCS why not just use Boost. No "roaming" fees.

Re: Metro PCs still goodBoost data is slower than MetroPCS' data is slower than T-Mobile 3G. 'nuff said.

oh boyI wish more mobile companies advertising their 'unlimited' data plans would get sued for fraud, as it's not really unlimited. In any event, this is a pretty interesting deal; provided this trend continues, it'll be very intriguing to see what the cellphone world will look like (plan+price wise) in 5-10 years. Hopefully they'll all offer unlimited talk, text, and data for $30 or less by then (hey, one can hope! ).

Re: oh boyAgreed. Also posted this in the AT&T story thread, but it could go here too... What about Alltel's 'unlimited' ??? 10GB also??? " Extended Wireless Internet Wireless Internet Card Pay one monthly fee for unlimited data usage domestically and in Canada - $99.99/month"
Hmmmmm......... really???? Somehow I doubt it - esp. since they just merged w/Verizon...
But I wonder, if you somehow could still sign up for that plan and be "grandfathered" in
|
| | |
Re: oh boyalltel was unlimited. And yes, you would BE grandfathered IN ONLY If your contract is STLL good. If and when you're contract expires and you renew with VZW you're unlimited service will be paying out the ass after the 5gigs.
VZW bought the contracts and customers in the areas they're taking over, which means they have to honor those until those contracts expire. But be ready for some rate increases as they've already hit.

hold the phone, pun intended$49.99 per month plan that comes with unlimited minutes. Users can add unlimited data for $24.99, unlimited BlackBerry data for $34.99, and unlimited messaging for $9.99. So text is extra.. and your joined at the wallet to the taxes and fees?! Wow, that's sweet.. on the other hand.. » plans.boostmobile.com/mo ··· ted.aspxUnlimited talk Unlimited text including multi-media messaging Unlimited web Unlimited walkie-talkie Voicemail, long distance and nationwide network included No hidden fees, no contracts and no credit checks No roaming charges Low rates for international calls and international walkie-talkie This is the ultimate option if you want it all without being tied down by a contract Still, sprint's phones are very expensive.. oh well, so are the other carrier's phones. The only thing we're waiting on is for AT&T and Verizon's response.. as 2/4 (half) of the major carriers have cut the price of unlimited calling. I can only guess they're waiting for some symbolic way of making the press release... say exactly 1/2 of the year (in June) down to the minute.

And, along with No hidden fees, no contracts and no credit checks, No roaming charges, comes No high speed internet... it's not good to try to compare boost to t-mobile's "loyalty only" offer and then T-mobile to Sprint's simply everything plan.. they're not the same by any means. Boost is a month to month unlimited talk plan, basically. It has PTT and a very out dated data network and crappy texting service. (And I am actually someone that really does like iDen for its stability) T-mobile is only offering this plan to limited people and is based on "talk".. there are plug in options that you can add on if you want, and yes, taxes are a reality, just like death. Sprint.. as far as I'm concerned, is the most upfront, honest, out there "unlimited" or "all inclusive" plans. Simply put.. $99 for anything that your phone is capable of doing. AT&T and Verizon are not going to change.. not for a long time at least. If they were interested in doing so, they'd have done it a long time ago. Besides, if anything does come from them, it won't come this year, rather, more like 1st quarter next year, 2010. The unlimited voice plans have been out for about a year now.. people are often locked in 2 year contracts.. and, right about now, not too many people are interested in getting locked in another term for any reason with the economy in so much of a mess. And, now we've hit yet a new low in the stock market. Maybe a sub 5000 stock market isn't too far away. I don't think ANYONE can predict anything right now..

Re: hold the phone, pun intendedYou're network in MN maybe crappy with Texting on iDEN but it works just fine here in Ohio. I've used it and are going back to it and it works just fine. Everyone i've talked to that still has Nextel or Boost says they've never had any problems here. Especially with the texts being delayed by hours.

Re: hold the phone, pun intendedThat's cool.. and I'm glad for you and your friends.. but, I can put thousands of people behind my statement over your friends.. that, and even Nextel will tell you that they do have delays. Not to mention, it's now all about the speed of the delivery, rather, it's the inability to send a picture or anything decent through the ultra slow network. Since I travel all the time, and not just in MN, which actually does have a good network, I can also verify that their texting has issues almost everywhere. But, thank you for giving me feedback about one small area in the vast nextel network.
|
| | | | 1 edit |
Re: hold the phone, pun intendedJust because you have those problems does not mean everyone else will have the same problems. That's my point. I've only heard a few people complain about the delays and thats on this site.
I too, have traveled when having Nextel and never had a problem. And like i said. not everyone has the same problems as everyone else.
How many people on here do not have a problem with the delays on Nextel or Boost?

Re: hold the phone, pun intendedGreat way to run something into the ground.
Dude, you said it yourself.. there are problems. Please stop using your own circle of friends to make a point, it's not going to help you. Nextel is WELL KNOWN for delayed text messages.. and, I don't believe, in my OP, that I was even talking about delayed messages as you are so heavily involved in.
But, I do believe I travel more than you. I do believe I have been in industries where Nextel subscriptions reached the 20,000 mark, I do believe that I've been in more than one network of Nextel users with user bases reaching the 10,000 mark, my wife belonged to an organization that had an extremely large group of users as well..
... guess what? The PRIMARY REASON for dropping Nextel was.. (drum roll please) sometimes hours delay in text messages.
First you say you knew of no one with issues, now you say you do.. I'd ask you "so what it is?" but it doesn't matter. The point is that they have them.. it's nationwide, and major companies, especially those that relied on text messaging, and having them delivered in a timely manner, were not getting them on time; sometimes hours late, dumped Nextel for that reason.
It's nice that a job paged/texted out to a tech showed up 2 hours after it was sent. It was nice that when a server was crashing the tech realized it an hour after the crash.. you getting the point?
I'm going to put my hand up right now, as still being a NEXTEL (not boost) subscriber, AND a Sprint user who has gotten delayed text messages both sending and receiving on my nextel, and have received 4 hour late messages on my Sprint phone from a nextel user.. and can tell you that this happened in Minneapolis, Sacramento, San Francisco, New York City, Atlanta, Des Moines, Green Bay Wisconsin, Denver, ... shall I go on?
And I even went to tell you, as I am sure others can tell you too, that even Nextel knows there is an issue that occurs.. the techs that work there will even confirm it. And, I never said that "everyone else will have the same problems"... you assume WAY too much in your post/s and you often put words out there that people never said.
You're being a fanboi to make a point that really isn't getting you anywhere. You seem to know everything about every cell service out there, at least you try, and you often come up cold.
Not everyone is going to have issues all the time.. some people never see the issues.. that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen, it doesn't mean it happens all the time, ... but it also doesn't mean it doesn't happen a lot either.
|
| | | | | | |
Re: hold the phone, pun intendedAnd as always- just because you have the problems not everyone else does. And 20,000 phones? Big deal. I worked for the 2 largest home improvement companies in the world. BOTH companies use Nextel. NEVER a problem with Texting NOR the 2way. The only problem was after Sprint started chopping the service areas, changed to CDMA problem was still there with coverage issues. 20,000 phones is nothing compared to the number that both Homer TLC and Lowe's Companies purchase a year, Especially with Lowe's Companies owning their own towers.
And you also gave large markets where the problem could have been too many users on the network; you will have that the same as you do with the Internet. You should learn that networks are shared.

Actually, such a creature does (or did) exist. Alltel prepaid and AlltelU accounts activated prior to the summer of 2007 don't expire the minutes as long as you make 1 voice call out (maybe in also?) every 30 days, or they take $4 from your balance. My mom has had her Alltel prepaid account since around Christmas of 2002 and hasn't added any funds to it in over a year, maybe two. She still has a positive balance. I also have one of these "grandfathered" AlltelU accounts that's had a zero balance for a while. I'm debating whether to throw another $10 on it or just port it to Page Plus since I like Page Plus better overall, even though Page Plus has a 120 (really, 119) day balance expiration. With Page Plus, I've had less double dialing outside of Ohio, better coverage/signal overall, and PP doesn't charge me when people leave voice mail or when I check my voice mail from my landline phone. EDIT: Removed "P" at the end of this post. Typo.
|
| | | |
Re: hold the phone, pun intendedPagePlus is resold Verizon. Company is based here in Toledo. But I doubt AlltelU will be staying around. No need to keep that when they have the IN Network. PagePlus also has unlimited service as well. It's higher rounds out to about $88 per month but still works on the VZ network nationwide and they're a local company.

DarnI left TMo in Sept after more than 10 years with Voicestream, Omnipoint, and then TMobile. TMo's free phone offerings were crappy and ATT offered me more for my money. TMo would send me a new phone every year and they gave me great deals like a $200 phone for $49 with a free month of service that made the phone free. Last year they wanted full price on the phone I wanted and weren't willing to deal so I left.
But now I get more bars in more places and I can use my cell phone in the basement at work after not having a TMo signal there ever.

Not too bad....I just received this deal after signing in - I had the following:
a) Unlimited Individual - $99.99 b) Blackberry Data - $29.99
Total Bill - ~$131.00 a month
On this plan, I get the same thing, except I changed to 400 text messages a month (did not see unlimited texting for $9.99) and I play ~$81 (when including taxes and fees)
a) Unlimited Loyalty - $49.99 b) Unlimited Blackberry & Data - $34.99
Total Bill - $84.98 (not including tax and fees)
Total savings: ~$46 (not including tax and fees)
I was thinking of switching to Sprint (still might if I really need 3G), but I'll hang on to T-Mobile for now with the savings.
EDIT: Changed to BB unlimited since that included unlimited texting as well as BB data.

Want new subscribers?T-Mobile must be run by the biggest bunch of idiots next to Sprint. Why on earth would you only offer this for existing customers? Offer it to everyone! If I were considering T-Mobile and found that I couldn't get the same deal as an existing customer I would choose another carrier just for spite.

Still making me pay the standard $14.99 rate I was paying before. Gonna have to call them. THe only thing I saw mentioned for $9.99 was a 400 minute plan and it was greyed out.

$49.99 planI had the my faves 1500min for $69.99plan,$6.99 mobile to mobile, plus the $19.99 unlimited data sync plan for my sidekick. I just switched to the new $49.99 unlimited plan & kept my $19.99 data plan which includes unlimited text, email, web & pic messaging. So now I no longer need mobile to mobile, and paying $20 less for my minutes...all and all I'm saving about $30 a month for more stuff...not bad.
