We've previously discussed how Bigfoot Networks has begun marketing a "Network Gaming Accelerator card." To sell gamers and investors on the idea, they recently released an amusing (but since pulled) pseudo-scientific whitepaper that redefined "lag" (or latency) as we traditionally know it - largely denying the reality that most causes of lag are outside the player's control. The uber-NIC offloads all networking chores from the CPU to the card's 400Mhz processor and 64MB of RAM, resulting in some slight latency and frame-rate improvements over traditional gear. Digg users note that there's a new version of the card available that offers a lower price tag ($150 instead of $250) and a slightly slower processor (333MHz instead of 400). Combined with Gamerail, gamers should actually surpass the speed of light, right?
