He needs to leave the New Years scene ASAP.

There is a time and place for sick people, and this is not the place for him. He should use his Star status to go raise money for a good cause instead of doing a New Years count down wrong 2 years in a row!

Happy New Year Everyone!

As for Dick Clark, what I'd say to him is "good for you, dude". Mentally, he's fine. He's obviously still suffering some paralysis as a result of the stroke. If you go back and watch re-runs of the first year he came back, you'll notice a marked improvement each year. But you have to shake the guy's hand for continuing to do what he wants to do, even in a reduced role or capacity, with Seacrest taking the major part. I admire a person that doesn't quit under these types of circumstances, knowing full well that millions of people will be watching him and probably making their own judgements as to whether or not he should or shouldn't be there.

Anywho, happy new year everyone!

It's not the stroke that caused the paralysis it's the cosmetic surgery Even at his age he still looks young though it's starting to show that he has some of the best plastic surgeons can buy.

Not too bad this year actually. Only had some champagne and 3 or 4 beers. I usually have that for lunch.

A new year wouldn't be complete without predictions of what is going to happen in the coming year. Here are some internet pundits thoughts on what will happen in the next 12 months:

Yeah, it's odd the way they are following the apple development model. First Apple comes out with "super eye candy" version, so then we get MS's version of that in Vista. Then apple announces that their next version will not be big on features, but they will concentrate on rewriting core stuff to make things better for 64 bit processors, rewrite the finder, and basically try and make shit fast and lean. Now early reports of Windows 7 seem to indicate MS is trimming the fat to make a less bloated Vista. Crazy stuff. Flattering for apple though, frankly.

Yep, I agree. Apple has good stuff. If Microsoft can learn a thing or to, and incorporate it into Windows 7, I can once again recommend Windows to people who don't want or need an Apple.

It's a shame really with Vista. I know a lot of us don't have many problems with its performance after tweaking, but to the everyday user, Vista has not brought them something decidedly better than XP. Hopefully, Windows 7 improves on Vista and they can come out with a stable, nice OS.

Basically, that's why I'm interested in it. I hope it comes out in Q3, but I'm betting on Q4.

1. The world economy will quickly bounce back to end 2009 generally strong, "Recession? What recession?"

2. Democrats will criticize Obama for being too conservative and being a lackey for corporate interests.

3. Google finds that its plateau days are behind it. Still, there is plenty of future ahead.

4. My bowling average won't break out of the 140-150 range.

5. The netbook will replace the converged phone-music-camera device.

6. ISPs will replace caps and throttling with unlimited service with PowerBoost-like functionality -- which is the same thing just marketed in reverse.

7. "Green living" from being something that people will value, but fears about global climate change won't drive them.

8. We will end 2009 without flying cars or jet packs.

9. Social Networks will gain in influence, by the end of the year threatening to replace corporations in shaping opinion.

10. We won't even have a date for universal health care, even though public support for the idea will be at a record high.
