Modification in V3.50(WA.5) | 08/13/2002
1. [FEATURE CHANGE] WAN to LAN traffic is allowed in hard-coded netbios packet filter. We add one more CI command for users to control it. Please refer to appendix 4 for more information.
2. [FEATURE CHANGE] Web WAN error messages changed when the gateway IP address was out of the range of subnet.
3. [FEATURE CHANGE] Triangle route network topology is allowed. We added a CI command to switch on / off firewall checking for triangle route. It’s “sys firewall ignore triangle all [on|off]”. The default value is to ignore triangle route check.
4. [FEATURE CHANGE] Wording changed for IPSec address configuration in SMT27.1, SMT27.1.1 and WEB IPSec.
5. [FEATURE CHANGE] In Many-One-to-One case, NAT sessions can be established by packets from WAN or LAN. In the past only those packets from LAN could establish NAT seesions.
6. [BUG FIX] When the user setups the schedule to the block time of date, ZyWALL always block traffic matching “domain name”.
7. [BUG FIX] CI command to configure trigger dial in netbios packet filter cannot work.
8. [BUG FIX] Port setting in VPN rule cannot work.
9. [BUG FIX] Download CyberNOT list crash on passive mode.
10. [BUG FIX] Clearing default server in WEB SUA/NAT by entering non-ip string will leave that field containing incorrect numbers.
11. [BUG FIX] Clear multi-page VPN LOG, the log index will not reset.
12. [BUG FIX] Static route from LAN to LAN (IP alias segment) will be blocked by firewall.
13. [BUG FIX] Fix a security issue about TCP stack.

Some Set-Up Problems?

I just had a chance to install and start to test the new firmware. I installed the firmware, the unit booted, and acquired a WAN IP address with the old configuration file. I then ran some tests, performing a normal new firmware set-up. As I changed the configuration file, I had the following results:

1 Reset to Default Did not acquire WAN IP
2 Reset to Default Did not acquire WAN IP
3 Reset to Default Did not acquire WAN IP
4 Upload ROM File Acquired WAN IP
5 Reset to Default Did not acquire WAN IP
6 Reset to Default Did not acquire WAN IP
7 Reset to Default Did not acquire WAN IP
8 Upload ROM File Acquired WAN IP
9 Upload Stored WA4 File Acquired WAN IP

Each time I changed, or reset, the configuration file, I waited until a lease was obtained, or it was clear that the lease process failed. Based on this test, Reset to Default appears to have a problem.

Another potential problem: "zyxel.com.tw" is stored in the domain name of the new configuration file. I removed this entry.

Tomorrow, when I have more time, I will continue with the normal set-up to see if I find any more problems.

Re: Some Set-Up Problems?

I started the set-up once again. As before, Reset to Default did not work. After waiting about 15 minutes, I uploaded the ROM file. The unit immediately acquired a lease. My conclusion: The internally-stored configuration includes some faulty information.

I continued through the set-up. I didn't find any other problems. Everything appears to work properly.
