Handheld gaming network continues to grow
(old news - 10:55AM Tuesday Aug 29 2006)
tags: wireless · gaming
Nintendo has announced that 2 million unique customers have now logged in to their Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. The service allows Nintendo handheld users to connect with other gamers via a network of hotspot partners, or via their home broadband network. When Nintendo launches their Wii game console this fall, the service will likely be intertwined with their Wii Connect24 service, which will offer on-line gaming, and downloadable classic Nintendo titles for $4-$9.

Excited

I'm excited about Wii. Although I think the name is stupid. I would have stuck with Revolution. Even though it won't be as powerful as 360 or PS3 it will be cheap and on my budget cheap is good. I can't wait to play old Genesis and SNES games

Wait, it can play Genesis games? I thought it was only Nintendo's library of games from NES - Gamecube or N64?

I could be wrong, and if so, even better I say.

Yes, it will play Genesis games, as well as games from the TurboGrafx-16 (remember Bonk?)

Son, if you don't stop playing with your Wii...

you are going to go blind!

I might have to buy one for my son just so I can say that.

Besides ther is no way I am paying $300 for Xbox or last I heard $400+ for a PS3.

$600 for a PS3 with HDMI and other perks like Wi-Fi...

$500 for a PS3 with a smaller drive.
